Gender Mainstreaming Guidelines for the Public Sector in Tourism

World Tourism Organisation (UNWTO)

The Gender Mainstreaming Guidelines for the Public Sector in Tourism have been developed to support the tourism public sector to integrate gender equality considerations and women’s economic empowerment into tourism planning and implementation. In practice, gender mainstreaming involves the systematic integration of gender perspectives – and the experiences of diverse women – in all policies, programmes and thematic issues in the tourism sector. The guidelines contain tools to support national, regional, local and other tourism institutions to apply an approach to tourism planning, programming and implementation that integrates gender equality and women’s economic empowerment.
