Fair Trade Tourism

The mark of a good holiday

Extraordinary travel experiences are made possible when hosts have the well-being of people and planet at heart. Discover these hosts within the Fair Trade Tourism (FTT) “family” – a network of passionate, inspiring tourism leaders in Africa that have embraced the need to do tourism better and committed to Fair Trade Tourism principles. They proudly display the Fair Trade Tourism logo as a verification of their dedication to creating better places to live, work, and visit.

The Fair Trade Tourism logo is the mark of best practice in responsible and Fair Trade Tourism, defined by fair wages and working conditions, fair purchasing and operations, equitable distribution of benefits, and respect for human rights, culture and the environment. It means that the people who contribute their land, resources, labour and knowledge to tourism are the ones who reap the benefits, and that the natural environment on which it all depends is treated with respect in pursuit of more resilient destinations.

Fair Trade Tourism certification has been independently reviewed and deemed compliant with the Travalyst criteria. Verification of this endorsement is available under Travalyst's certification initiative.
